Changes to The Extended Hours Service

Changes to the Extended Hours Service

Dear Patients,

Due to Leeds wide NHS Budget challenges, our CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group) can no longer afford to fund our extended hour’s service in this area to the level it has been doing. The extended hours appointments are those offered on evenings after 6.30pm and also on a Saturday and Sunday.

The reason for the reduction in funding to Practices is due to financial challenges on the CCG Budget from other areas of the NHS. The total funding reduction for extended hours is 78%.

This impact’s on all practices in our area.

Clearly this will have implications both in the service we can offer and the number of appointments that can be offered.

We will now need to offer a HUB approach to all these extended hours appointments 7 days a week. So all extended hours appointments will take place in a HUB environment.

Funding cuts means we cannot afford to continue to run all the current HUBS. A local decision has been made to close the Headingley HUB with effect from April 2017.

Our patients from this point will be offered evening and weekend appointments at Ireland Wood surgery as a designated HUB site.

This HUB is located at Iveson Approach, Leeds LS16 6FR. This is just over 2 miles from Burton Croft Surgery. Our reception team can advise you on directions

As a Practice we will retain our own Saturday morning GP and Nurse appointments, but these will be with one of our own GP’s and Nurses here at the Practice.

The Out of Hours 111 service will also still be available.

For more information about booking extended hours appointments please ask at Reception.
